Young Families Fellowship Group

The group plans to enjoy the thrill of a FireAntz hockey game at the Crown on Sunday, March 12th, at 4 p.m. Childcare will be provided at the church. Limited box seat tickets are available and parking passes will be provided. Registration for his event is over. Please contact Britany or Jonathan for more information.

 Questors Class Room 203 The class considers the sermon and Scripture of the day. Led by Dr. Mike Garrett.
 G.I.F.T. Class Activity Room “Growing in Faith Together”: Bible study, discussion. With Herb Bryan.
Parenting Class Room 209 The class has started a new course of study based on “The Love Dare for Parents,” a book from the authors of the international best-selling marriage book “The Love Dare.” The book challenges one or both parents to understand, practice, and communicate Christ-like love to their children.  Led by Kim Hall.
 Wired Word Room 405 Scripture, commentary unravel the headlines of the day. Led by Bill McFadyen.
 Fellowship Class The Chapel Uniform Bible lesson. Class of energetic and caring Grand Adults age 50 and older.
 Covenant Class Room 416 Uniform Bible lesson. Class of caring singles and couples age 55 and older.
 Calvin Class Rankin Building Uniform Bible lesson. Men in fellowship, serving God & the community.
 Friendship Class Room 413 The class  begins a study of the “Life of the Apostles” – what were their backgrounds, families, challenges, service, and as much as can be uncovered about their remaining days. Study books are available.

Dr. Mike Garrett Room 405 Class will tackle “Telling God What’s on Your Mind” and will look and prayer and Psalms. Some of the psalms which will be examined include Psalms 22, 23, 51, and 103. For those of you interested in further study, those joining the class should consider reading “Answering God: The Psalms as Tool for Prayer” by Eugene Peterson and/or “Preaching and Teaching the Psalms” by James L. Mays.
The Rev. Jonathan West Activity Room Work and Self-Care. We’ll be talking about work-life balance, about being a good steward of all the gifts God has given us, and doing our work in a way that is both pleasing to God and honors who God has created us to be.
Dr. Donna Fowler-Marchant Room 416 Class will conclude  Marjorie Thompson’s “Forgiveness” on March 22nd. The class will then join with Leslie DeSessa to study Praying in Color. This an active, meditative, playful prayer practice. It is both process and product. The process involves a re-entry into the childlike world of coloring and improvising. The product is a colorful design or drawing that is a visual reminder of the time spent in prayer. Praying in Color will last 3 sessions (March 29, April 5 & 12).
Tapestry 2.0/Kelly Sherrill Room 413 The group is taking up the study “The Gospel of Mark: The Jesus We’re Aching For” by Lisa Harper. The lessons follow Jesus’ ministry from its beginnings all the way to the cross. Harper was the main speaker at the 2016 Women’s Conference.

Regular worship at 8:30 a.m. is in the First Church Chapel. Sometimes special events may move this service to the Sanctuary where more seating is available. Note that Communion is offered (generally) at this service during the first Sunday of every month.
