Events

WELCOME TO EVENTS at First Presbyterian Church. This is essentially a Calendar page that displays the meetings and activities at the church. “Agenda” will allow you to set your calendar by the day, week, or month. “Category” will allow you to customize your calendar to show events in your area of interest. By default, the Events page shows a calendar of “Upcoming Events,” which showcases activities at the church while excluding regular meetings and classes. Note: It will also include some “regular” meetings when a special event such as a speaker is scheduled. Choosing “All Activities” from the category menu will bring up the complete church schedule.

Grief Support Group @ Room 209
Oct 19 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

How do you understand grief when your heart is broken by the death of a loved one?
To survive and live forward, those who grieve must find answers. Beyond the Broken Heart is a support group for those who are grieving the death of a loved one and are in need of a community to share the loneliness of grief. Scriptural wisdom will be used to explore issues of grief and offer spiritual encouragement for a life of renewed hope and joy. The group will also offer some specific coping strategies to guide the way back to fullness of life. If you are grieving the death of a loved one, please join us on the journey through grief. Stephen Ministers will attend each meeting and they will be available for individual support. For information, contact John Campbell at jcampbell1346@aol.com.

Trunk or Treat @ Fellowship Hall and parking area
Oct 25 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Photo from the First Prez “Trunk or Treat” event in 2010. Our Fall Festival this year will be a Trunk or Treat event. Members of the congregation will decorate the trunks of their vehicles to fit a certain theme or idea. Participants may dress up in costume to fit their theme. Remember, we have a lot of younger children, so decorations and costumes should be minimally scary. (Sample themes are listed below.) Please bring your vehicle between 5-5:30 p.m. Dinner is 5:30-6 p.m. After dinner, children will walk from vehicle to vehicle and participants will hand out candy or treats. We’ll also have a cake walk, face painting, and a bouncy house. Remember, we’ll need baked goodies for the cake walk!

Please sign up here to participate or volunteer.

Sample themes: Christmas in October (Jesus’ birth), Under the Sea (Fishers of Men… fishing game), Noah’s Ark, Daniel and the Lion’s Den, Adam and Eve, Fruits of the Spirit, Veggie Tales, Jonah and the Whale, David and Goliath, Moses (baby Moses, pharaoh, etc.), Wild West, Pumpkin Patch, Camping, Pirates, Superheroes, Football and other sports, Dr. Seuss, Cartoon characters (Minions, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), Video games (Pac-Man or Minecraft… keep it nonviolent), Popular movies (Cars, Frozen, Star Wars, etc.), or Popular TV shows.
