Where's Jesus?

2025 Advent Sermon Series

Ever watched that tiny airplane icon inch across the flight tracker app?
Your loved one is right there on the map. They're coming and you can't wait.
Or maybe you’ve hung on your child or friend’s every Instagram post as they trek across the country on a road trip. Every snap, every update, tells you where they are now. Maybe you're relieved to hear from them—maybe you wish you were there, too!
Location matters.
In Advent, we long for (and remember) the coming of Christ. Our redemption is with him. Our hope and solace are where he is. We desire his presence. How often have you asked (or heard someone ask) in the midst of trouble, "Where is Jesus?"

Vivaldi's Gloria

Sunday, December 14, 2025 – 11 a.m. Worship in the Sanctuary

Vivaldi’s "Gloria in D major, RV 589"

The Celebration Choir, joined by community friends, will offer Vivaldi’s Gloria during the second Sunday of Advent.
The choir will be accompanied by a string ensemble featuring trumpet, oboe, and bassoon.

About Vivaldi’s Gloria:
This joyful work reflects the angelic proclamation from the Gospel of Luke:
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men of goodwill.”

Originally composed for the all-female chorus of the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice—
where Vivaldi taught strings—the piece includes twelve movements, each with its own character.
Four movements feature soloists, either individually or in combination.
Vivaldi scored the work for SATB so it could be performed outside the cloister,
but the music disappeared after his death. Rediscovered in the late 1920s,
Gloria has since become a beloved staple of the Christmas season.

Featured Soloists:
Jennifer McFadyen Hammond, soprano
Vicki Hogan, soprano
Joyce Borum, soprano
Evelyn McCauley, alto

All are welcome to join us as we celebrate the season with this “Angel’s Song”.

A Legacy of Generosity

A Future of Abundance

From our earliest days on Ann Street, to rebuilding after the Great Fire of 1831, to the vibrant ministry we share today — First Presbyterian Church has stood as a testimony to faith, generosity, and God’s enduring grace.

For 225 years, generations have given generously to sustain worship, nurture faith, and serve our neighbors near and far.

Each gift, and each act of service, have built the foundation upon which our future stands.

As we enter our 2026 Stewardship Campaign, we celebrate this legacy, and we look forward to a future of abundance, growth, and service, made possible by your continued faith and generosity.
A livestream of our 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Worship Services are
available every Sunday. You can tune in live or view at a later time. Our live broadcast is also available on Facebook (@1stprez).
