Veterans Day Community Worship Service

Capt. Adam Tippery is the guest preacher. His sermon, from Joshua 1:3-9 is “Courage Under Fire.”

About the Guest Preacher

Chaplain (Captain) Adam Arthur Tippery is the Battalion Chaplain for the 92nd Civil Affairs Battalion (Special Operations) (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, NC.

In 2002, Adam graduated from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, MN with a Major in Pastoral Studies, and both a minor in Biblical Studies as well as Intercultural Studies (having studied abroad for a semester in the countries of India, Thailand, and China). While attending Northwestern, Adam also competed for their college football team at the position of Offensive Guard. Following his senior year of 2002 he was awarded both All-Conference and small college All American honors, and invited to the regional post season all-star game attended by scouts from the NFL (Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers among them). He also helped lead his team to the 2002 NCCAA Victory Bowl. In 2007, Adam graduated from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with his Master of Divinity. While there, he served as a Teachers Assistant in the Church History Department, and co-lectured at Trinity International University for one semester of the undergraduate course titled, World Civilizations.

Adam entered the US Army Chaplaincy in 2008. Assigned to the 201st BfSB (JBLM, WA) as a battalion chaplain with the 502nd MI BN, and the 109th MI BN (LRS) from 2008-2011. While here, Adam deployed once to a combat zone with these BN’s for a total of 12 months. The deployment was to Iraq in 2009-2010, and covered both OIF and Operation New Dawn. From 2011-2014, Adam served as the 1-16th CAV Squadron Chaplain, the support BN at the US Army Armor Basic Officer Leadership Course (ABOLC) in Fort Benning, GA. From 2014-2016, Adam then served as the Battalion Chaplain at the 4-319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade in Grafenwoehr, Germany. Finally, after graduating the Chaplains Captain Career Course at Fort Jackson, SC in DEC 2016, Adam was assigned to the 92nd Civil Affairs Battalion (SO) (A) in Fort Bragg, NC as a BN Chaplain, and currently resides at this position. Adam is a graduate of both the Army Airborne School and the Advanced Airborne School, and is an US Army Jumpmaster.   

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with 2 Campaign Stars, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the United States Army Parachutist Badge, and the Italian Parachutist Badge.

Adam’s wife, Lindsey, serves as a tech writer for elementary education. They are parents of three children: Bjorn (7), Augustin (5), and Kai (2). Lindsey is 7 months pregnant and they’re expecting a girl.
