Downtown Historic Tours

August 11 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Got out of town visitors coming this month? Looking for something fun to do with them? The Cool Spring Downtown District is hosting “Historic Tours of Old Fayetteville by Horse and Carriage” on Saturday August 11 from 9am to noon. The live narrated tours will include sites connected with our city’s founding 250 years ago, our role in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, and Fayetteville’s building boom that followed the coming of the railroad.

This month’s tour is special because guests will get an “insider’s look” at Downtown’s First Presbyterian Church, founded in 1800 and built in 1816. Docents will make church history come alive as they talk about its Scottish heritage and point out the building’s many unique features. A short award-winning documentary about Fayetteville and Lafayette will also be shown.

The tours will leave hourly starting at 9:00 am from the Cool Spring Downtown District office at 222 Hay Street across from Rude Awakening. This month’s tours will include the extra hour at First Presbyterian at no extra charge! Tickets are $25 per person ($20 with military ID, active and retired) and $15 for children between 3 years and 12 years of age. Tickets may be purchased at City Center Gallery & Books at 112 Hay Street or by calling 910-678-8899. Reservations are recommended, so purchase your tickets now so you don’t miss out!
